San Juan: The Card Game

Discover a new version of the classic card game - San Juan! 

The cards have been given new layouts and artwork, with some buildings renamed to better align with the Puerto Rico 1897: Special Edition. The game revolves around building production and special buildings, with cards used both as currency and goods. 

This edition was originally announced as containing all previously released cards, including The Hut [first introduced in San Juan (Second Edition)], and the first San Juan edition”s expansion, San Juan: The New Buildings & The Events, [whose buildings had also been included in San Juan (Second Edition)]. However, though all the previously released buildings were included in the final product (with The Hut being renamed to Bohio), the event cards were not.

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME

The game is played over several rounds. Each round, players take turns selecting one of the five Roles: Builder, Recruiter, Craftsman, Trader, or Adventurer.

While each player has the opportunity to perform the action of each Role, only the player who chooses the Role can also take the special Advantage associated with it.

Produce goods like Coffee or Tobacco, then trade them for Coins. Use the Coins to construct Buildings and make your city more prosperous.

The player who best adapts to the ever-changing game will earn the most Victory Points and be the winner!

In San Juan, each card can serve several functions:

• Sometimes it represents a Building (when placed face-up in front of you)
• Sometimes it represents Coins (when part of your hand)
• Sometimes it represents a Good (when covering a Production Building)
